The genesis of these ambitious collage installation were the scraps from the original production of Some Living American Women Artists / Last Supper. These scraps were re-cycled into individual free form shapes, as a playful side project, simultaneous with the pre-computer production of the posters in 1971. When I discovered them again a few years I backed the collages with cloth and produced a few more- this went on for 30 years. Now I have over 1,000 collages, and am actively in the process of creating more.
Gradually their presentation progressed from showing a few collages placed around photographs and drawings to being the centerpiece of several large-scale museum installations. Each installation is unique, and responds to the specific architectural of the given space often covering 100’ of wall and placed to thread from one gallery room to another. They are also shown in small cluster or as cameos.
